Our Anti-Piracy Service-Leavers (APSL) Combo Course, provides the basic training and UK National & Internationally Recognised Training & Certification, in a 3-Day Intensive Training Course at our modern facilities on the West of Scotland, approx 1hrs drive from HMNB Clyde. RYA Radar Users, RYA/MCA VHF DSC (SRC) Radio Comms Licence & RYA UK National PowerBoat Level 2 Operators. (I.C.C. International Certificate of Competence is Eligible under UN Resolution 40).

Recommended Pre-Course Experience:

No Previous Knowledge or Experience is Required. Students may benefit from previous experience in using radio communications equipment. AP/SL is a combination of RYA PowerBoat Level 2, RYA Radar and RYA/MCA VHF (SRC) Radio Licence. This combo-course has been created in response to demand from former and serving members of HM Armed Forces, looking for employment in the private sector, who have asked for these courses in a combined / intensive format. There is no anti-piracy related content.

This three-day intensive training course will be conducted are our main base RYA Training Centre at Largs Yacht Haven on the West Coast of Scotland.  There are direct rail, road, bus, air and ferry links.  The centre is approximately 60 mins drive from HMNB Clyde at Faslane, 90 mins drive from RNAD Coulport & 40 mins drive from Glasgow.  The course will be run at an Instructor:Student ratio of 1:3 and will be run in-class and on-the-water, using modern training equipment, simulators and RYA Training PowerBoats.
  

The training area is the Firth of Clyde and Islands, and training and handling exercises will be conducted here. Close-Quarters Manouvres will be conducted inside Largs Yacht Haven harbour / marina, and High-Speed & Man-Over-Board exercises will be in open water. Lunch is provided on-board or at the centre.
