StudyFlex™ is the easy and convenient way to get the RYA Day Skipper Theory Training and Certificate, without having to spend set dates in a classroom. It is fast becoming the most popular way of achieving this important knowledge. It is the exact same RYA Course and pack, with an additional ScotSail CD-ROM course-notes or web-login, for you to study at home - with an important difference. It is NOT a distance-learning course - you must meet us at the Centre to collect the pack and for a short course-induction session (around 1 hour). Your Course Instructor leads you through the course by 'phone, e-mail or online chat, and we hold 'Day Skipper Surgery-Days 'every Monday and Friday, and on some other days to suit you also. You will have unlimited close-tutor support, access to the best training facilities and equipment and your Course Instructor, when it suits you. You take the final assessment at our RYA Training Centre, with the Course Instructor you have come to know.

Our RYA Day Skipper Shorebased Theory Courses are essential for learning to make good command decisions on board, navigating, working out tides and dealing with emergencies. You don't need any prior experience and the course will prepare you for the RYA Day Skipper Practical Course.The 3-Weekends Shorebased Theory Course is a mix of chartwork, tides, safety, navigation, seamanship, skippering and command skills, flares and lifejackets, and loads more. Each day is spent 9am-5pm in-class. It is designed as an energising and good-fun experience, using both live and training equipment, computer simulators, videos, group exercises and more. 6 Nights' FREE Overnight Accommodation is included (subject to availability) with our 3-weekend courses.
This course is also available in our StudyFlex™format - the exact same course with all the learning materials, computer software and official course pack included. You get a dedicated and named Instructor available by telephone and e-mail from 9am-9pm / 7 days. You go through the course with your instructor step-by-step, at your own pace. Final multiple-choice and chartwork assessments are undertaken at our centre (this can be arranged to take place prior to Check-In / Boarding of a Practical Sailing Course. All our shorebased theory courses are inclusive of everything you require - even exam and certificate fees!
